Professional Focus
Conduct field studies with aquatic organisms. These studies involve fish feeding, reproduction, habitat and survival studies. Among the species studied are lake sturgeon, lake whitefish, and Diporeia. Reproductive success of both beneficial as well as deleterious species is dependent upon proper habitat condition and food availability. Also worked to create a larval fish identification key for the great lakes, now available on website key.
Unique Field / Laboratory Capacities
- We have a fast 36 foot research vessel for work on Lake Superior
- We have field equipment for river and lake sampling, large lake sampling adult and larval fishes, zooplankton and benthos
